Taking Care in Challenging Times

Clients who come to me regularly understand the importance of taking time for oneself. However, I am concerned about the numerous other people who think their physical and mental health is less important than the other items on the never ending To-Do list. Now we are in challenging times, money is tight, and so many people are losing jobs. Getting a massage is not in the budget, but there are other ways to practice self-care to relieve stress and achieve a Tranquil Spirit.

Have you ever thought about scheduling at least 15 minutes sometime during the day just for you? Now busy Moms may think I have couple of screws loose; what Mom has 15 minutes for quiet time. However, remember we make time for what is important to us. The 15 minutes you savor each day for yourself, may result in a happier Mom, Dad, employer, employee….you get the point.

Here’s an idea: Turn off the TV, put the cell-phone on silent, pop in a video for the kids, close the door and just sit in silence with your thoughts. Focus on something positive. Despite problems and challenges, if you have faith in something beyond yourself, have your health, your family and friends, you are blessed.

Until next time…strive to achieve a Tranquil Spirit.
